A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
