Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
